Procrastination

Look at the visitor my parents got! He was hanging out in the garage.

I've named him Gizzard. So this is Gizzard, the lizard.

So I've been a bad blogger as of late. I haven't been writing in this as often as I probably should. But on the other hand, not too much has been happening that's really worthy of a post.

I got a job! Woot! I'll be working at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company at Universal Studios City Walk. Tourist spot = lots o' cash! Yay! So the financial front will soon be covered! (Thank God, finally!)

Other than that, been back to hitting the gym (4 months away from the gym = bad idea. I used to be able to lift 45 - 50 lbs. Now I can only lift 25 lbs. So sad!), memorizing Bubba Gump material, quasi-working on this play (that doesn't look like it'll be going anywhere. Timing was off, I guess...*shrugs*), running errands... Yeah... soooo exciting. But nonetheless, happy!

Busy and Exhausted

I'm absolutely not complaining, but I am tired. I'm currently working on a play titled, Letters to a Student Revolutionary as the understudy to one of the lead characters and one of the chorus members. The play is a reaction to the Tiananmen Square Massacre back in 1989. We've only got one more week before I have to be completely off book for two characters and know all of the blocking. I've only been working on this script for maybe a week and a half and I have to learn 25 pages of script with a Chinese accent. So I'm slightly overwhelmed with this. At least I will be getting paid. Granted, it's not much, but it's better than nothing.

On top of that I've been cast in 3 films. One of them happens tomorrow morning, after which I have to go to a 5 hour rehearsal.

Aside from acting work that doesn't pay, I've been volunteering my time as a teacher's aide. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about teaching acting to middle/high school kids. This is so I can be prepared by the fall if I choose to take that acting teacher job that was offered to me by the non-profit I was working for.  In the meantime, I am still looking for employment that pays.

So I am alive ... maybe a little cranky, but alive.

Randomness in a Bucket

Sometimes when a library book becomes old and starts to fall apart, the library will put tape on it to preserve its longevity. And if the person who's taping the book isn't paying attention, you'll sometimes end up with precious little gems like this:

Say what???

Today I heard my mom say for the first time ever:

"I freaked out when I found out it cost $20!"

She got "freaked out". Mom is becoming hip.

Random tidbit:
At an audition, I met another actor whose name is Hugh Mun. If you say his name really fast, it sounds like "human". His parents were geniuses!

Am I'm a Loser???

How come the majority of people that go to the gym on Saturday nights are Asian??? My presence isn't helping those statistics either. I know why I'm at the gym on a Saturday night: I'm single and am not quite ready to start dating yet. I'm not quite sure how I feel about becoming part of the gymnasium "Asian Invasion", as my mother so eloquently calls a homogenous room of Asians.

On a positive note, I've been cast in two films!!! One is a paying low budget SAG and the other is a student film. I don't know too many details yet, but I have officially been offered the roles. What's interesting about both films is that I had been called back for lead roles in both, and didn't book the role I had been called back for in either. For the low budget SAG, I was offered a smaller and featured role. I'm fine with that because the role that I was originally up for consists of full nudity. Not being naked in a film is most definitely fine with me! In the student film, I'm not exactly sure of the size of the role, but I'm happy to just have booked something. So more to come when I have more info. But woot! I'm gonna have more footage for a reel! Mental note: Stay on top of producer for footage from the film I did this past Dec.

This may be a small amount of good news, but I'll take it! (Especially considering the stagnant and crappy times we're currently going through.)
